International Exchanges
Experience, Confidence, Trust…
We develop informative and uniquely designed exchange programs, showcasing the wealth of knowledge, cultural diversity, and innovative spirit in the Greater Sacramento and Central Valley Regions. International delegations have the opportunity to learn, connect, and share ideas with community members and partners. In addition to these professional meetings, international visitors engage personally with local citizens, cultivating lasting relationships through cultural experiences, volunteer opportunities, and school visits.
Expand your world with us.
In April 2021, Global Ties Sacramento was created as a division of World Trade Center Northern California to continue and expand the organization’s 25 years in fostering global trade and diplomacy. We work with hundreds of area businesses, organizations, state agencies, and government officials to create unique programs that achieve the desired goals and objectives of visiting delegations. We are your international professional visitor exchange partner.

Informative and Uniquely Designed Programs
International Visitor Leadership Program
Global Ties Sacramento hosts almost 400 international visitors in the Greater Sacramento Region through the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the premier professional exchange program of the U.S. Department of State. The program brings current or emerging international leaders to the United States for an immersive study on various topics designed to advance U.S. foreign policy goals, such as climate change and global health initiatives. Through professional meetings with American counterparts, these exchanges provide a dynamic environment for sharing ideas, best practices and establishing long-term relationships across the globe. The IVLP has been connecting leaders for 80 years, and over 500 former Heads of State worldwide have participated in the IVLP. The program provides valuable professional and cultural development opportunities for both the visitors and local community members. Contact us to learn of the different ways to become involved with the IVLP program.
International Leadership Visitor Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by Global Ties U.S.
Professional Fellowships
Global Ties Sacramento coordinates professional fellowships for international visitors looking to expand their leadership skills and business acumen. Through various exchanges, such as the Hubert F. Humphrey Fellowship Program, we connect young professionals from around the world to organizations and businesses in the Greater Sacramento Region interested in supporting professional development and establishing long-term international relationships.
Open World Exchanges
Global Ties Sacramento works with the Open World Leadership Center, an arm of the U.S. Congress, to introduce rising leaders of emerging countries to the importance of legislative functions in creating and sustaining democracies. This is done by introducing young foreign leaders to the American democratic systems and free-market operations at the federal, state, and local levels. We coordinate week-long stays for the participants, introducing them to all aspects of American democracy.
